US Marine killing puppy video - Classic example of viral videos and negative public relations
Tuesday, March 4th, 2008YouTube has drastically changed the way that the US Military has had to deal with public relations. Soldiers love to film combat and their activities - there is a saying in the military: “Joe always has a camera on him.” When inspecting a dead enemy soldier - or even a US soldier - you regularly find a camera, and its a piece of intelligence. In this case, US Marines murdering a puppy and filming it is going to cause serious PR and brand recognition damage to the US Marine Core, the US Military, and the United States as a whole. Marines are famous for their impressive WW II Pacific island invasions, Chesty Puller, and of course Sgt. Heartman from Full Metal Jacket - and now puppy tossing. Killing an animal in a combat zone is certainly no crime, as crimes against humanity probably happen on a daily basis. Keep in mind that there are “cute” website where hundreds of thousands of visitors go each day to see puppies and small kittens. Killing “cute” is not cool - and the US Military will suffer for this immaturity.
