Landing page optimization - Testimonials make a huge impact

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Why aren’t you using testimonials in your online business?  You need to get customer pictures, videos, and comments from your customers to place on your website or landing page.  Not having testimonials is costing you thousands of dollars and loads of potential customers.  Many businesses just advertise testimonials - and they have found that to be the best way to market their product or service.  Below is a photo of Angie’s List and how they use testimonials to increase their subscriber base:

angies list

When using testimonials:

  • Don’t be afraid to use them.  Make the pictures or videos of your clients large and enthusiastic for your website.
  • You should have at least 5 testimonials, and more depending on what it is you are selling.
  • Photos of people giving testimonials should be taken by yourself using an 8 MP digital camera.
  • Watermark your testimonials videos before uploading to Youtube.  You can use Windows Movie magic to do this - just choose “subtitle” when playing with the text options.
  • You can use testimonials to your advantage.  Guide your clients answers by asking leading questions.  In the example below they show a client empowering themselves and it describes why Angie’s List is good.
  • Testimonials will increase your sales - if you don’t already use them you are losing out on a lot of additional revenue.
  • On your website you can solicit clients to submit testimonials to you, you don’t even have to gather them.

If you need testimonials developed for your online website we can help.  We work with over 30 various actors and models in the Chicagoland area.  Please call 843-425-3566 or email Support@BannerBlindness.com and we will discuss video and photo testimonial content development.

Cash for gold scam - effective creatives and marketing

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

We do quite a bit of online marketing for both our internal products as well as affiliate products. A common affiliate offer and online marketing product is “Cash for Gold”. You fill in a lead form and you are contacted by a gold liquidator. These offers are directed towards people who are in a cash crunch and need to liquidate their assets in order to survive. The worse the economy gets the better this offer will probably convert. Below are screen shots of the banner and landing page creative:

cash for goldcash for gold scam

The above creatives are very very good. The landing page is very attractive with only a few fields to fill out and is somewhat generic. They truly emphasized “less is more” The banner creative is simple and to the point, but could probably use a more attractive female and the color scheme should match the landing page.

I was recently in Florida visiting some family and picking up a new convertible. My aunt and uncle have a few friends that are senior citizens and I was amazed at how many of them live month to month on social security and other fixed income cash flow; and boy do they love the race track. It was sad to see so many poor senior citizens at the race track gambling away their rent and food money. Anyhow, I was amazed to see how many of them had gold, diamonds, and other vintage jewelry that could probably be converted into cash. The company running the “cash to gold” offer is most likely Right Media/Yahoo and they get paid a CPA (cost per action) of probably $5 - $10 per lead filled out. I didn’t fill out the form, but I would imagine the user is immediately sent an email follow up and a phone call to close the deal. I think most people that mail in their gold are probably ripped off by the company and given an unfair price for their gold/valuables. If you try and dispute the amount given I would bet you have to pay for return shipping, handling, and insurance - which can be quite expensive.

It’s sad to see so many seniors, middle-class, and even poor people truly suffering from the recession the US is going through. I recently read a statistic that over 20 million Americans are using food stamps to help them eat. It’s even worse to see ruthless companies buying up their gold for pennies on the dollar.

Pizza Affiliate Marketing - Web and Life Fully Woven

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

The internet, in 2008, will continue to envelop the phone book, television, radio, print, and all other mediums. The internet is like the famous 1980’s movie, “The Blob” (starring Steve McQueen) because it continues to break down traditional media and incorporate it into itself. I would estimate that in 2010 televisions will become WiFi enabled and traditional television (Cable & Airwaves) will no longer have the stranglehold over the market. Soon, independent production studios will be able to deliver their content to millions of homes that have Wifi enabled televisions. This is one of the reasons, why I believe that YouTube will be considered the greatest business acquisition of the 22nd century.

The following is an advertisement I saw on Drudge Report (one of the first internet blogs - Matt Drudge broke the Monica Lewinsky story) by Domino’s Pizza. There is nothing new about pizza companies (Papa Johns, PizzaHut, etc…) advertising on the internet. However, this is direct response marketing, affiliate marketing, and real world products/services at its highest level. Domino’s can actually determine their ROI from advertising pizza - as you can place an order through their website and have it delivered to your house in under an hour. The following are the advertisement and landing page from Domino’s Pizza:
